Ring Out! is a new handbell ensemble founded by and for LGBTQIA+ ringers and allies. We are one of the first handbell groups in the nation dedicated to LGBTQIA+ inclusivity. The majority of handbell choirs are run through churches or play mostly sacred music. Handbells are a powerful medium for building strong connections and we aim to make this art form accessible and welcoming to people who may not be comfortable with the church for any reason. We explore the rich world of secular handbell music and support the composition of more inclusive music through commissions and collaborations.
Logan Olson (he/him) is the artistic director and founder of Ring Out! He graduated from Luther College where he studied Environmental Science and was a member of Luther Ringers and the Nordic Choir. He has a strong passion for environmental protection and justice which inspired his path to working in ecological restoration. Logan is the current Director of Handbells at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Handbells have been an enriching part of Logan’s life for over a decade, and he dreams of increasing inclusivity to this unique art form for the LGBTQIA+ community and all people.
